About my practice
I am a highly experienced Speech and Language Pathologist with over 16 years of practice across community, educational, hospital, and disability service settings.
I provided therapy across clinics and schools for children with autism, developmental delays, learning difficulties, ADHD, and fluency disorders, while also co-facilitating innovative group therapy programmes and contributing to multidisciplinary assessment and education planning.
My career took a different trajectory after a few years where I went on to serve for more than a decade in acute care where I specialised in the assessment and management of acquired communication and swallowing disorders in critical care, oncology, neurosurgery, and other specialised wards. In this role, I developed extensive expertise in dysphagia management, instrumental investigations, patient and staff education, and discharge planning, while also supervising university students, mentoring new recruits, shadowing placements and leading a Dysphagia Specialised Interest Group. I was actively involved in national and European initiatives, including chairing the Malta IDDSI Reference Group and contributing to the InterBOLUS-Net COST application project.
I currently work closely with Enable Ireland’s Adult Disability Services in Cork, where I assess and support adults with complex communication needs across residential, respite, and day service environments.
I am deeply committed to multidisciplinary collaboration, person-centred care, and continuous professional development, with a strong passion for promoting dignity, inclusion, and independence through effective communication supports.
