HomeSpeech TherapistsClaire O’Loughlin Claire O’Loughlin Speech Therapist Title About my practice Visual Code A native of Ennis, Claire O'Loughlin graduated from NUI, Galway in 2010 and completed her postgraduate certificate in the 'Management of Dysphagia' at the University of Ulster in 2011. Having worked in private practice for three years, Claire founded Clare Speech Therapy in 2014. Claire is committed to providing a high-quality service within her local community and helping individuals of all ages and levels of ability to reach their full potential. Since 2010, Claire has worked in a range of clinical settings: community clinics, preschools, primary and secondary schools, special schools, nursing homes, hospitals and long term care settings. Claire has provided services to children and adults with a vast range of communication and swallowing difficulties, such as: language delays, articulation/phonological (speech) impairments, receptive and expressive specific language impairments (SLI), stammers and voice disorders. Claire has also worked as a guest lecturer for Phonology on the MSc in Speech and Language Therapy at the University of Limerick. Claire has a particular interest in the area of Autism Spectrum Disorders and early intervention. Claire has presented her research into parents’ experiences of an early intervention service at the Annual Down syndrome Ireland ‘Study and Tell Day’ in 2010 and the IASLT Biennial Conference 2011. Her research paper has been published in the 2011 issue of the Journal of Clinical Speech and Language Studies. Claire is committed to continuing professional development and has attended numerous courses including 'Feeding Difficulties and Sensory Issues' (The Sensory Integration Network), Floortime: DIR Model (Training Ways), The Autism Diagnostic Observational Schedule (ADOS-2) training, PECS training, Lámh training, “Everything you need to know about a baby’s mouth for good feeding, speech and mouth development” (Diane Bahr), Laryngeal Manual Therapy (specialist adult voice training) and cervical auscultation dysphagia training.
