About my practice

I am a Speech and Language Therapist specialising in the comprehensive assessment and intervention of adults with acquired neurological conditions. I have extensive experience working with individuals who present with aphasia, dysarthria, apraxia of speech, and cognitive–communication difficulties.

My background includes supporting people living with a wide range of neurological conditions including Dementia, Parkinson’s Disease (PD) and Stroke. I have a particular interest in language‑led dementias, also known as Primary Progressive Aphasia (PPA), and I am committed to providing tailored supports that reflect the unique needs of each person and their family.

My approach is person‑centred and collaborative. I work at a pace that feels right for each client, with the goal of enhancing meaningful communication and connection in daily life. I focus on developing communication support strategies with individuals and their families, adapting these as needed in response to the progressive nature of their condition. A total communication approach is central to my practice, using spoken language alongside supports such as pictures, written words, and other communication aids when beneficial.

I also have significant experience in the assessment and management of eating, drinking, and swallowing difficulties that may arise as part of a progressive neurological condition. My aim is to support people to continue enjoying mealtimes while maintaining safety, nutrition, and hydration. Recommendations and modifications are made when required.

Across all areas of my work, I prioritise helping individuals and families understand the impact of their condition on communication and swallowing, and how these abilities may change over time. I highlight practical ways that family members, friends, and carers can offer support so that clients can continue engaging in the activities and relationships that matter most to them, for as long as possible
